I’ve chosen a 10mm flat end mill for the facing operation, my thoughts being that on a desktop CNC, there would not be a huge array of tools and I don’t expect to have access to a face mill. I am hoping to also machine a body, and in preparation of AU London, I have put together a 10 minute video showing my setup in Autodesk Inventor HSM, or Inventor CAM as it is now called. The initial design starts with a PDF, which is imported into AutoCAD, this geometry is then used In Inventor to shape the body of the guitar, check out the blog post here:īelow is a picture of the initial test fit of all the parts (finishing of the body still to be done), and then some progress pictures of the body being shaped. For the Class, I have already built the guitar, sculpting the body with hand tools. There are three drop-down menu options: Normal drag and drop (the default), Don't allow drag and drop, and Ask before drag and drop.As part of my AU London class this year, I am building an electric guitar using the Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing Collection. Drag and Drop - Allows for the re-ordering of operations in the CAM Browser.Show pattern type - Displays the type of pattern (Linear, Circular, etc.) in brackets () to the right of the pattern name in the CAM Browser.Show manual NC - If a manual NC entry exists, it is displayed inside brackets () in the CAM Browser.Show cycle type - Controls whether the cycle type setting is shown for drill operations.Show setup work offset and spindle - Displays the number of work offsets defined in the setup.Tool descriptions may be added using the Tool Library dialog. Show tool description - If a description exists for a tool, it displays within parentheses to the right of the strategy name.Show tool compensation offsets - When length and diameter offsets are applied to a tool in the Tool Library, the new values are displayed alongside the tool number. Show tool number - Displays the tool number in brackets () in front of the strategy name.
